Plumbing Commercial

Completing the Plumbing Residential Program of 540 classroom hours and 6000 paid on the job training hours is a prerequisite for this program. Plumbing Commercial Apprentices will be working in residential and/or commercial settings, assembling, installing, and repairing water, drainage and heating systems. Plumbing Apprentices must register with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, and complete an additional 2,000 hours of paid on the job training as a licensed apprentice, and complete the required 180 classroom instruction hours to take the state Commercial Journeyman Exam.

Students will gain knowledge of the following:

  • Plumbing safety and tools
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Blueprint reading for Plumbing
  • Soldering, brazing, and welding
  • Designing, installing, and service of water supply and drainage systems
  • Installation of residential and commercial fixtures and appliances
  • IPC, IFGC, IMC, and NFPA-13D Building and Plumbing codes
