Training in this program will prepare students for the administration of specialized emergency care and the transportation of victims of acute illness or injury to a medical facility. Students will learn roles necessary to work as part of an EMS team. Upon completion of all course requirements, students will be recommended for written and practical NREMT testing for EMT certification.
Roland has been a longtime resident of Washington County and one of the first paramedics certified in this area. He has served as a coordinator/instructor for paramedic and EMS programs at Dixie State University. His experience includes over thirty five years of emergency services in fire and EMS. He is a certified instructor trainer for the American Heart Association, Course Coordinator and Instructor and Training Officer for the Utah Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Course Coordinator Instructor for Emergency Medical Services for Children.
Shellie brings to the Dixie Technical College a vast array of knowledge and expertise. She has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Utah State University. She is a licensed Social Worker, specializing in drug and alcohol addiction and recovery. Shellie is certified in the State of Utah as a AEMT, Fire I & II, and a Utah Certified Fire and EMS Instructor. Shellie is also employed with Ivins City as a Firefighter/AEMT.
